Welcome to LUSO2009! LUSO2009 is the 3rd Meeting of Portuguese Researchers and Students in the United Kingdom and will be held on the 27th of June 2009. Following two successful editions, in Cambridge and in Oxford (LUSO2007 and LUSO2008, respectively), London is the chosen city to hold this year's meeting, in which we expect to have around 250 participants. LUSO2009 aims to consolidate the dialogue and interaction among Portuguese students and researchers living in the UK. We believe we can contribute to the establishment of a network that will mutually benefit all the conference participants and all the entities that support this project. During the meeting, the current status of Research and Higher Education in both Portugal and UK will also be discussed, as well as career prospects in academia and in industry. In LUSO2009 you will have the opportunity to listen to many distinguished speakers linked to education, research or entrepreneurship. It is our aim that this meeting can bring together people from different fields that share the same focus on success, therefore contributing for a future where, as individuals and as a community, we can achieve our goals.
